Course Philosophy: An important part of the learning experience in this course is in the laboratory. This is where we will get the all-important "hands-on" experience with real plants. In addition, the laboratory sections are designed to facilitate discussion, which should help solidify your understanding of the key concepts. At times you might wish to spend more than the scheduled 2 hours on particular labs; when this happens, simply show up to extra labs (in addition to your own) and get permission from the TA (you will be welcomed!). To provide extra lab time, "open lab" will be held many Thursday evenings from 7:00 until 9:00. Every effort will be made by the instructors to provide individual instruction and help for each student.

Bring to lab your course pack, the textbook, and a 10X hand-lens (if you have one). Also, be sure to wear appropriate shoes and clothing when field trips are scheduled.
