My research explores the interaction of plants, soil organisms and the abiotic environment and how this interaction is shaped by disturbance and management activities, including restoration and nutrient additions. I approach these questions in several ways: plant community composition, biogeochemical cycling, plant population ecology and changes in nematode community composition. I have also used these approaches to address interests in rare plant ecology and change in forest understories.
