My primary focus is biology education.  I currently serve as the Undergraduate Biology Program Coordinator.  I endeavor to teach both large introductory classes and smaller upper-level classes in ways that engage students and promote deep learning about aspects of biology.  My research interests include investigation of effective means to engage students in large format classes, evolution education, and lichen diversity and distribution in the state of Iowa.
