My research interests include the conservation genetics, systematics, and evolution of freshwater organisms. To date this research has included fishes (Cichlids, Centrarchids, and Lampreys), molluscs (Unionids), and crustaceans (freshwater shrimps). In particular I am interested in the relationships between unionid mussels and their host fishes and future projects include investigating patterns of coevolution using molecular tools. I am also interested in the role historical processes play in the distribution of species and have several projects investigating the biogeography of freshwater organisms in North America.
