Garrett Janzen began his PhD studies in the Interdepartmental Genetics program in 2013. His current research focuses on the genetic foundation of drought-tolerance traits in locally-adapted Mexican maize landraces and in sorghum. As a fellow for Symbi, Iowa's GK-12 program, Garrett is a resident scientist in high school classrooms in Perry, Iowa.
