Bamboo Character Lists

Characters for the Bamboo Phylogeny Group morphological phylogenetic analysis are organized into the groups listed below.  Each character set is numbered sequentially within the set, each set with its own prefix. Click on the name of a character set to see the list of those characters; illustrations for character states can be viewed by clicking on the character state if it is highlighted.

Coding will be according to the character state numbers.  If a character is not observable, then ? should be entered in the data matrix.  If the character is inapplicable, then – should be entered in the data matrix.  In the event of polymorphisms, the following coding should be used:  A = states 0 and 1 present; B = states 1 and 2 present; C = states 2 and 3 present; D = states 1, 2 and 3 present; E = states 0, 1, 2 and 3 present; F = states 0 and 4 present; G = states 0 and 2 present; H = states 0, 1 and 2 present.

Links will be added when work on defining characters within each character set is finished.
