Dr Jovanovic's main research focus is in the area of Nanotoxicology and Aquatic Ecotoxicology. Primarily he is interested in non-soluble suspended materials of anthropogenic origin - mainly nanoparticles and microplastics and their effects on the environment. Research program involves four main lines of investigation.
1) Monitoring microplastics pollution in the aquatic environment
2) Outdoor aquatic mesocosms studies with nanoparticles and microplastics exposure
3) Benthic aquatic macroinvertebrates community toxicology.
4) Chironomids (Chironomus) and fruit fly (Drosophila) as bioindicators of nanoparticles/microplastics exposure.
Past interests include effects of nanoparticles on fish disease resistance and immunotoxicology.
