Momin Ahmed is a Ph.D. student in the Lavrov Lab, specializing in molecular phylogenetics and evolutionary genomics. His research focuses on the mitochondrial genomics and evolutionary relationships of marine sponges, particularly the order Haplosclerida, combining computational biology, phylogenetic methods, and molecular data analysis. He is particularly interested in how genomic data can be leveraged to explore biodiversity and evolutionary history in understudied marine invertebrates.
