Barb Pleasants

On the occasion of the Science Bound's 25th Anniversary Gala, Dr. Barbara Pleasants was honored for inspiring, mentoring, and directing ethnically and racially diverse Iowa youth towards discovery and success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.

Science Bound is Iowa State University’s pre-college program designed to meet state and national need for a technical workforce by increasing the number of ethnically diverse Iowa students who earn ASTEM (agricultural, scientific, technical, engineering and mathematics) degrees. The program draws students with potential from middle and high schools in Des Moines, Denison, and Marshalltown, Iowa. Science Bound celebrated its 25th anniversary with more than 140 campus dignitaries, district representative, and former and current Science Bound students.
