Daniel is an aquatic entomologist with interests in community ecology and stressors with a particular fondness for aquatic beetles (Dytiscidae & Hydrophilidae). He received his Bachelor of science majoring in Entomology at Purdue University. Then proceeded to complete his Master of Science in Biology from Louisiana Tech University. His thesis examined the colonization of aquatic insects in response to varying leaf litter diversity. As a Ph.D. student at Iowa State University, Daniel is studying the ecology of lakes, ponds, and restored wetlands in agricultural landscapes with a focus on invertebrate and macrophyte communities.
